President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed he is discussing the possibility of United States peace troops in Ukraine.
This comes after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk weighed in on the Russia-Ukraine war, stating he was sure that “peace is on the horizon” in the coming weeks, as well as his confidence in the presence of U.S. troops in a peacekeeping capacity "along the contact line between Ukraine and Russia”.
Zelenskyy responded to the comments, stating that "these are the troops of the United States, and only the U.S. makes such decisions”.
“Of course, we discuss this both with President Trump and with representatives of the coalition of the willing," he continued.
"We would like this. It would be a strong position for security guarantees.”
This comes just days before the next round of peace talks between Kyiv and Washington, as well as Moscow, which have been increasing in recent months as the Trump administration places more pressure on bringing an end to the conflict with a peace deal that he says is “very close”.
