Vivienne Westwood has debuted in India, with a fashion show at the Gateway of India, an iconic spot located in Mumbai.
The show was in collaboration with Vivz Fashion School and the Maharashtra Government’s Department of Textiles, and showcased Westwood's Spring and Summer 2025 collection.
In parallel with the usual season collection was a special capsule line, designed with the local culture in mind and crafted from the nation's top of the range handwoven Chanderi silks and Khadi fabrics.

The capsule collection combined Westwood's trademarks, punk meets high-end, with traditional Indian style, in the use of colour, fabrics and draping.
The fabrics were created by Indian artists using traditional techniques and provided by Khadi India and Aaranya/Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh).
The word ‘Khadi’ is derived from "Khaddar", a term used for the hand spun fabric of India, and the cultural Khadi movement was launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1915.
“At Vivienne Westwood we have long championed craftsmanship and heritage and have partnered for decades with local industries and artisans in the UK, as well as in Europe and Africa, and are now proud to partner with the artisanal hand-crafted textile industry of India for this show,” said Carlo D’Amario CEO.
