Swansea City has confirmed that Snoop Dogg has become a co-owner and investor after taking a minority stake in the Championship club.
The 17-time Grammy-nominated artist has followed in the footsteps of Real Madrid and Croatia legend Luka Mordic by joining the Swans' ownership group.
"My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City," Snoop Dogg said on the club's website.
“The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me.
“I’m proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club, and I look forward to getting to know all my YJBS.”
To mark his place at the club, a mural of Snoop Dogg created by Hasan Kamil has been commissioned and unveiled in the club stadium’s West Stand.
Swansea’s ownership group said Snoop Dogg has openly shared his love of football and they are “delighted” he picked them as his club.
“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club’s reach and profile,” the ownership group said.
“Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club.”
Snoop Dogg isn’t the first Hollywood star to venture into ownership of a soccer team.
Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny led the charge by buying Wrexham for around £2 million in 2021. Since they bought the club, the team has entered the Championship League and is now estimated to be worth upward of £150 million.
