Nintendo's long-anticipated Switch 2 launched worldwide today, with pre-orders selling out in the months before the release.
As retailers' stock continues to be snapped up, Nintendo said it was confident it could keep up with the high demand. It continues to prioritise manufacturing as many consoles as possible.
Partnering as an ambassador for Nintendo, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said the chip built for the Switch 2 is "unlike anything we've built before" and allows for "the most advanced graphics ever in a mobile device."
The world's largest company deployed its custom NVIDIA T239 as the Switch 2's processor.
In a 'Creator's Voice Special Edition' posted on Nintendo's YouTube channel, Huang said the T239 chip had full hardware ray-tracing, high dynamic range for bright highlights and deeper shadows and an architecture that supports backwards compatibility.
“Dedicated AI processors to sharpen, animate and enhance gameplay in real-time and it's ultra-low power,” Huang said.
“This chip is a technical marvel.”
