Nintendo has announced the launch date for their Switch 2, set to hit shelves on 5 June.
So what's new?
This Switch 2 launch comes several years after the first console version debuted in 2017.
This new model will have a range of updated features, and an updated price tag to back it up, coming in at A$700.
Inside the box you'll receive the Switch 2 console, Joy-Con 2 controllers, grips and straps, a console dock, high-speed HDMI cable, a Switch 2 AC Adapter and USB-C charging cable.
The new model is larger, meaning a larger screen but this first launch is LCD, supporting HDR and resolutions of 1080p and up to 120fps depending on the game, which is one aspect where the original model might outpace its sister perhaps, with the Switch original having an OLED model offered for a higher price but improved graphics.
Another area where the original model is seemingly still ahead is battery life, with estimates (depending on the game) of 2-6.5 hours of battery life on the Switch 2 compared to the 4.5-9 hours expected on the Switch 1 OLED model.
The internal storage, where digital games and save data are stored, is eight times that of the original model, which often relied on external microSD cards to expand storage space, which is an option still available on the Switch 2 in addition to its initial 256GB.
There will be an updated controller on offer too, the It has a headphone jack, two programmable buttons on the back, a slightly different colour scheme, and the new C button which is for a feature called GameChat.
Much like its predecessor, the Switch 2 is also launching several new big name games alongside it’s debut, a fresh version of Donkey Kong, a fresh offering from the Zelda universe, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and two titles exclusive to the Switch 2; Mario Kart World and The Duskbloods.
But not to worry, most original Switch models of games should be compatible as well.
Pre-orders for the upcoming console are available now at most online retailers and gaming shops.
