The first new Star Wars film in seven years has had a disappointing launch, with the lowest opening weekend for the franchise.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is the big screen follow up to the successful TV show that follows the two titular characters.
Produced, written and directed by industry titan, Jon Favreau, and starring Pedro Pascal, the film was highly anticipated as the first new film in the Star Wars universe for several years.
However, ticket sales for opening weekend have fallen flat.
During the first three days in cinemas, it has so far only tallied an estimated US$82 million in U.S. domestic ticket sales, compared to the last offering from that cinematic universe, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which saw an opening weekend that landed US$177.4 million in domestic ticket sales.
