Nebius Group shares surged 16% after the world’s most valuable company Nvidia agreed to invest US$2 billion (A$2.8 billion) in the Amsterdam-based artificial intelligence (AI) cloud provider.
The giant computer chip maker will buy 21.07 million shares at $94.94 each to give it a 8.3% stake in Nebius, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Nebius (NASDAQ: NBIS) shares closed US$15.17 (16.15%) higher at $112.00 on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT), capitalising the company at $28.34 billion.
Under their new strategic partnership, the companies will develop and deploy the next generation of hyperscale cloud for the AI market from AI natives to enterprises.
NVIDIA will support Nebius’ early adoption of NVIDIA’s newest accelerated computing platform to enable the deployment of more than five gigawatts of capacity, enough power for more than four million United States households, by the end of 2030.
They said the partnership deepened Nebius and NVIDIA’s relationship across the full AI technology stack from AI factory architecture to production software, enabling Nebius to accelerate the buildout of its industry-leading, full-stack AI cloud platform.
The partnership was built upon Nebius’s ongoing deployment of NVIDIA infrastructure across its global platform, including multiple gigawatt-scale AI factories in the U.S
NVIDIA founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jensen Huang said AI was at another inflection point with agentic AI driving compute demand and accelerating infrastructure buildout.
He said Nebius was building an AI cloud for the agentic era, fully integrated from silicon to software and powered by NVIDIA’s next-generation accelerated compute.
“Together, we are scaling the cloud to meet the surging global demand for intelligence,” Huang said in a news release.
Nebius CEO Arkady Volozh said Nebius had been built for AI and designed for developers.
“Now with NVIDIA, we are extending that throughout the stack — from gigawatt-scale AI factories to inference and software — as we build one of the first and largest clouds for all AI builders everywhere,” Volozh said.
