India is the top destination for solo travellers according to a new report from luxury travel service, Kensington, which ranked the top countries to visit for a solo trip in 2025.
Compiling its report, Kensington looked at findings from affluent travellers based on 2024 data, alongside two external surveys conducted with Opinium Research and Dig Insight.
India, Italy and Japan took the top three spots for solo travel, with Italy also snagging the top overall travel destination.
Australia and New Zealand also cracked the top 10 for solo trips, sitting at six and 10 respectively.

An additional survey from Kensington for the report found that solo travel was bouncing back, after it took a hit from the pandemic.
According to their Affluent Traveler Survey, almost 76% of respondents were “extremely to somewhat open” to traveling by themselves internationally in the next three years.
“Solo travel initially dipped significantly after the pandemic but is starting to come back and we anticipate that it will continue to increase in the years ahead,” the report wrote.
“These are trips that often don’t overlap with the priorities of family or friends and are driven by deeper or more personal needs. For instance, India, Egypt, and Thailand all offer an alluring depth of history and culture that many travelers dream of for decades; Australia, New Zealand, and Iceland are distant from North America or are perceived as being uniquely isolated."
