Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to travel to China for the second time in two years, in order to deepen relations with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
The visit will take place later this year, with his first being in November of 2023 which saw the release of a detained Australian journalist Cheng Lei after three years and the removal of all remaining trade obstructions on Australian exports from the era of the previous Coalition government, and Xi's following visit to Canberra in June of last year.
The next visit from Albanese will look to continue strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations, and comes after Xi congratulated Albanese on his recent re-election in a personal letter.
In the letter, the Chinese president focused on his nations' "promoting a more mature, stable and productive" relationship with Australia.
The date of Albanese's visit is yet to be announced and news of this future trip comes as he wraps up his current ones to Indonesia, the Vatican and Singapore.
