Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is heading to Rome to attend the new Pope's inaugural mass alongside other world leaders.
Pope Leo XIV will deliver his first mass this weekend to a crowd of tens of thousands, including leaders from the Commonwealth, members of the Trump administration and U.K. royalty, with this Sunday's service set to mark the official start of the new papacy.
Among those in attendance will be Albanese, with the Vatican being the next stop on his first post-election trip, which started in Indonesia.
During his stay for the inaugural mass, Albanese is set to meet with "a number of other world leaders" who will also be in attendance, as well as invite the new Pope to Australia for the 54th International Eucharistic Congress in 2028.
On his way home from Italy, the PM will stop in Singapore for a meeting with his counterpart, Lawrence Wong.
