Ticketek parent company TEG has appointed former Woolworths head Brad Banducci as CEO, with previous CEO Geoff Jones being named as TEG’s chair.
Banducci will take over from 31 March.
“I am honoured to join TEG at this exciting time in its journey,” said Banducci. “In this new role, I am following both a personal passion for live events and a strong belief in the increasing importance of live experiences in general.”
Banducci left Woolworths in September. Woolworths reported food sales had risen by 5% when Banducci announced his exit last February, despite a A$781 million loss.
This also came shortly after Banducci walked out of a Four Corners interview, in which Banducci had asked for his comments on former ACCC leader Rod Sims to be removed.
Jones, who had been TEG’s CEO for 14 years, first told the board in mid-2024 that he planned to depart as CEO. According to the Australian Financial Review, a TEG senior lawyer recommended an audit of several of the company’s senior leaders in September, including Jones, due to allegations of bullying staff members.
Current and former TEG staff reportedly said Jones had shouted at employees. A spokesperson for Jones denied the allegations.
“There is no place for bullying, harassment or misconduct at TEG,” the company has said.
Silver Lake Partners, TEG’s owner, also reportedly considered former AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan, former Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, and former Domain CEO Jason Pellegrino to lead the company.
Azzet has contacted TEG for comment.
Ticketek sells more than 23 million tickets each year, according to the company. TEG was acquired by Silver Lake for $1.3 billion in 2019.
