Five tech giants are linking up to launch a ‘Semiconductor Hub’ at the University of California, Los Angeles.
The US$125 million venture will see a collaboration between Broadcom, Meta, Applied Materials, GlobalFoundries and Synopsys to create the hub at the School of Engineering.
The project will look to improve research across the semiconductor industry, including chip design and equipment, manufacturing and software, with a commitment of five years to the collaboration.
“UCLA is uniquely positioned to bring together expertise across disciplines to push the frontiers of semiconductor innovation and translate that knowledge into scalable solutions,” UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk said.
“The Semiconductor Hub at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering reflects our commitment to forging partnerships with industry in a field critical to economic vitality and national security.”
