On his first day as United States president, Donald Trump began purging his new administration.
Trump took to Truth Social to announce the first people he’s going to fire, including celebrity chef Jose Andres and former top general, Mark Milley.
“My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again,” he posted.
“YOU’RE FIRED!”
Trump is set to fire more than 1000 members of staff who he believes doo not align with his values and mission for the country.
While Trump made a note to fire celebrity chef Andres in his Truth Social post, Andres took to X to clarify that he wasn’t fired and that he had previously resigned.
“I submitted my resignation last week… my 2-year term was already up,” he said.
“I hope @realdonaldtrump exercises his presidential authority so the Council can continue to advocate for fitness and good health for all Americans.”
Andres has been a long-time critic of Donald Trump and refused to open a restaurant in a Trump property.
Milley, who was also named in Trump’s post, fell out with Trump in 2020 and was recently given a preemptive pardon by former president Joe Biden.
Others who were named in Trump’s Truth Social post were Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council.
