Donald Trump Jr. hinted at a possible presidential run during the Qatar Economic Forum, saying “that calling is there.”
When asked if he would consider running after his father leaves office, he responded with hesitation but acknowledged the possibility.
Trump Jr. emphasised his commitment to America First policies, crediting his father for reshaping the Republican Party into the MAGA movement.
The audience’s reaction was lukewarm, with only a few claps greeting the idea of Trump Jr. stepping into politics.
He joked about the sparse applause, saying it was probably just "a couple people we know."
“Here we go – well, oh – oh boy. Well, it’s an honor to be asked,” Trump Jr. said. “You never know.
“The answer is, I don’t know – maybe one day. That calling is there.
"I’ll always be very active in terms of being a vocal proponent of these things – I think my father has truly changed, you know, the Republican Party, I think it’s the America First Party now, the MAGA party, however you want to look at it.”
Business partner Omeed Malik, who shared the stage, also chimed in, lightening the moment.
Despite the mixed reception, Trump Jr. maintained that he would stay active in political discussions.
Meanwhile, United States President Trump has dismissed the idea of a third term, stating he wants to hand over leadership to a strong Republican.
He named Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as potential successors but avoided endorsing anyone outright.
Trump Jr. played a key role in Vance’s selection as a running mate, positioning him as a leading contender in 2028.
Vance’s influence within the Republican National Committee is growing.
In March, he was appointed finance chair, making him the first sitting vice president to hold the role.
Trump Jr. has praised Vance’s ability to connect with America First voters, calling him a strong candidate for 2028.
While Trump Jr. remains focused on his business ventures, his comments have fuelled speculation about his political future.
Whether he officially enters the race or continues as a vocal advocate, his presence in the MAGA movement is undeniable.
The Republican Party’s direction post-Trump remains uncertain, but figures like Vance and Rubio are already positioning themselves for the next chapter.
