Intermedia Group has bought Australia's media, marketing and advertising industry news website Mumbrella from Diversified Communications, Unmade announced today.
In a post on Mumbrella’s website today, Unmade’s owner, Tim Burrowes – the original owner of Mumbrella - has announced that he will be the new publisher of Mumbrella under a new entity called Mumbrella Media from Tuesday, 28 January.
Mumbrella Media will be owned by Intermedia Group together with Burrowes.
It’s understood that the Mumbrella and Unmade entities will be brought together under one new umbrella at Intermedia’s office in Glebe, home to the company’s stable of 30 digital mastheads, 20 events and 19 print magazines.
These include titles such as National Liquor News, Retailbiz, Australian Hotelier and Hospitality magazine.
Now in its 16th year of operation, Mumbrella was originally sold to Diversified Communications in late 2017 and the three original shareholders handed over the management reins to the new owners in 2020.
David Longman, managing director of Diversified Communications Australia, expects a merging of the two entities will ensure Mumbrella continues to thrive and grow under new management.
