United States equity futures were steady on Wednesday evening (Thursday AEDT), with trading activity expected to remain muted as markets pause for the Thanksgiving holiday.
U.S. exchanges will be closed on Thursday and reopen on Friday for a shortened session, with trade ending at 1 pm ET (6 pm GMT).
By 10:30 am AEDT (11:30 pm GMT), futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq were all trading within a narrow ±0.1% range.
The calm in futures follows a positive session for Wall Street on Tuesday, when Wall Street advanced on renewed strength in technology stocks and rising expectations of a December interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve.
The Dow added 388 points, or 0.7%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite rose 0.7% and 0.8%, respectively.
Investors continue to evaluate signals that could influence the Fed’s next policy move. According to the CME Group FedWatch Tool, traders are pricing in an 84.7% probability of a 25-basis-point cut at the central bank’s December meeting.
