Rob Cole, Chairman of Iluka Resources, has announced his retirement - effective today - due to health reasons.
Cole's leadership has been praised by Iluka’s Acting Chair Andrea Sutton, who said: "The company has evolved considerably during Rob’s tenure, during which he has overseen the demergers of Detera Royalties and Sierra Rutile and, most notably, Iluka’s diversification into rare earths.
"At his AGM address in May, Rob reflected on Iluka’s resilience and commitment to delivering sustainable value. His personal contribution to this commitment has been unwavering. On behalf of the Board, I thank Rob for his outstanding leadership and service to the company."
Rob Cole's retirement marks the end of a significant chapter for Iluka Resources. His leadership played a crucial role in the company's recent achievements.
Cole joined Iluka's board in March 2018 and became Chairman in April 2022. During his tenure, he oversaw significant milestones, including the demergers of Deterra Royalties and Sierra Rutile. In addition, he oversaw Iluka's strategic shift into rare earths.
Iluka's managing director, Tom O'Leary, also expressed gratitude for Cole's quality work and support.
"Rob’s contribution at Board has always been of the highest calibre and I’m grateful for his support, particularly since taking the Chair role in 2022. All of us at Iluka are wishing him the very best for his recovery," O'Leary said.
With Cole's retirement, Sutton will continue as acting chair until a permanent successor is appointed. The Iluka board is expected to take the necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition and maintain the company's strategic direction.
The search for the next Iluka chairman will be a key focus for the board as they continue to drive Iluka's growth and success.
