An extension to an emergency budget has been passed in French parliament, after a failure to agree on a budget bill.
The emergency budget, which passed both houses of parliament, will continue to keep the government running into January.
It was rushed through by recently re-appointed Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu on Monday, after a compromise couldn't be reached on the 2026 budget, with both houses divided on spending cuts and tax increases.
President Emmanuel Macron also addressed ministers on Monday, stating that the budget issue would need to be resolved as soon as possible in January, with the target of bringing the deficit under 5% of GDP.
Tensions over the national budget have caused a string of political chaos this year already, with multiple prime minister appointments and Macron losing the majority for his government.
