European states have signed deals to buy underwater drones for military use.
The German manufacturer of the drones, Euroatlas, reported the deals to Reuters, as European defence spending starts to increase against the threat of Russia.
They confirmed that contracts had been signed with two European defence ministries so far, for their autonomous underwater drones, specifically the Greyshark model.
It is a mid-sized, long-range autonomous underwater drone with a maximum time limit of 5.5 days, but with development underway on a model.
These drones have military capabilities but are expensive, with technical challenges.
They can be used to monitor undersea cables, track submarines and search for mines.
