Chinese carmaker GWM has announced a new motorcycle; the Souo (or Soul) S2000, with a powerful V8 engine.
The 2000CC beast is a world first, and one of very few eight-cylinder bikes to exist, and was launched alongside a V8 plug-in hybrid engine for GWM SUVs as well.
The name stands for “Search Own, Unlimited Outlook”, and the Chinese translation of is 灵魂 (Línghún), means ‘Soul’.
The Souo and its 2 litre motor will seek to compete with Harley Davidsons, with specs of 113kW and 190Nm coming in around the same level as a Mazda3 hatchback.
The motorcycle also boasts twin LED headlights, 118L of luggage space in three cases, a power adjustable windshield, an eight-speaker sound system and smartphone connectivity.
Despite the Soul weighing a hefty 461kg, it can do 100km/h in just five seconds, with a top speed of 210.
The price, when converted from Chinese Yuan, lands at around A$50,000, and that's not even factoring in the fuel costs.
It is cited as 5.9L/100km, but a review from news.com.au found over 10L/100km.
