Monarto Safari Resort is set to open in South Australia, with bookings starting on 3 February.
The resort is a multimillion-dollar project developed by Journey Beyond, one of the nation’s leading experiential tourism groups.
While bookings begin from next month, doors aren’t expected to open till May.
The resort comes after a boost of animals to the Monarto Safari Park itself, with two Asian elephants and two Nile hippos introduced since 2023.
The Monarto Visitor Centre also opened in 2022, and the addition of the new $40 million safari resort is expected to boost tourism even further.
Located within the safari park, in the new Wild Africa precinct, it will feature 78 luxury rooms, a spa, two swimming pools, conference spaces, glamping experiences, wedding reception facilities, and premium restaurants.
With views over the Mallee plains, guests will be able to see rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and hippos from the comfort of the resort or through exclusive Safari Tours.
The resort has also committed to donating a portion of every booking to the Zoos SA Conservation Fund.
South Australia’s Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison, told Azzet she was “looking forward to seeing the bookings come in” and ”showcasing the important work of Zoos SA".
“Journey Beyond and Monarto Safari Resort are the perfect pairing… there is no doubt the multi-million-dollar development will be a jewel in South Australia’s tourism crown, offering unique accommodation and experiences for a range of travellers in Murray River, Lakes, & Coorong.”
