Jeff Bezos has sold nearly three million shares worth US$665.8 million over two days in July, according to a regulatory filing.
It is part of the Amazon founder's plan to sell 25 million shares in the company through May 2026.
Bezos stepped down as Amazon CEO in 2021 and already sold US$736.7 million in stock in the final days of June, around the time of his wedding to Lauren Sanchez. He still has 900 million shares worth close to US$200 billion.
He is still currently the largest shareholder in the company, where he remains chairman.
This comes as Amazon’s Prime Day sales fell almost 14% year-on-year in the first four hours of the event.
At the time of writing, Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) stock is US$219.36, down 1.84% from the previous close of US$223.92. The company’s market cap is US$2.33 trillion.
