Asia-Pacific markets traded higher on Monday despite continued tensions in the Middle East as the United States and Iran exchanged strikes.
By 11:50 am AEST (1:50 am GMT), Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was trading 0.1% higher, while Japan's Nikkei 225 gained 2.2% and South Korea's KOSPI 200 advanced 3%.
The gains followed a weaker session on Wall Street on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.5%, the S&P 500 lost 0.4%, and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.3%.
In commodities, ICE Brent crude rose 0.8% on Friday to settle at US$96.28 a barrel, while spot gold fell 1% to US$4,430.15 an ounce.
Chinese markets finished lower on Friday, with the SSE Composite Index easing 0.3% to 3,930.1 and the CSI 300 declining 0.1% to 4,548.1.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 1.7% to 25,650.9, while India's BSE Sensex added 0.5% to 76,515.4.
European markets finished mixed on Friday. The UK's FTSE 100 was flat at 10,831.1, Germany's DAX rose 0.2% to 26,046.4, and France's CAC 40 slipped 0.1% to 8,278.8.
