A bipartisan housing affordability bills remains in limbo in the United States.
President Donald Trump is refusing to sign the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which is looking to increase residential development and bring new affordability to the housing market.
The bill passed both the Senate and House of Representatives with an overwhelming majority and was the first significant housing package on a federal level in more than ten years.
Included in the bill is an improvement on already-existing properties, increased on the limit for “Public Welfare Investment” for some banks, and grants or loans in support of new housing.
Despite the popularity of the bill, Trump has labelled it a “big yawn” and instead pushed his SAVE America act, a divisive bill which would require proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections.
