History of the Dakar Rally
The Dakar Rally, originally known as the Paris-Dakar Rally, was founded in 1978 by Thierry Sabine. Sabine got lost in the Ténéré desert during the 1975 Abidjan-Nice Rally and decided to create a race traversing the Sahara Desert's challenging terrain. The event has since become an annual off-road endurance rally, known for its grueling stages and adventurous spirit.
