A joint reconstruction fund between the United States and Ukraine has signed off on its first investment project.
The U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund kicked off in December of last year and was part of a broader deal between the two countries signed in April.
The fund is focusing on key minerals investments, with the first approved project for Sine Engineering, which produces navigation technology.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko was present for signing the deal, alongside representatives from the U.S. and Sine.
"This is laying the foundation for success going forward," said Conor Coleman, head of investments at the U.S. International Development Finance Corp
“We looking forward to having more announcements on this ... in the next coming months.”
