United States stock futures were little changed in overnight trading on Tuesday (Wednesday AEST) as investors prepared for another busy session of corporate earnings, with several major technology and industrial companies set to release quarterly results.
By 10:05 am AEST (12:05 am GMT), Dow futures and S&P 500 futures were flat, while Nasdaq-100 futures edged 0.1% lower.
The major U.S. indexes ended a three-session losing streak on Tuesday, boosted by stronger-than-expected earnings from major companies including 3M and General Motors, which helped ease concerns over the strength of corporate profits.
Semiconductor stocks also supported the recovery, with the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) rising 4% as investors returned to artificial intelligence-related companies following recent weakness.
Market participants remain focused on whether continued demand for AI infrastructure and software can justify elevated valuations across the technology sector as earnings season gathers momentum.
Investors are closely watching whether major technology companies can demonstrate sustained growth in AI-related spending, cloud services and enterprise technology demand.
Earnings will again take centre stage on Wednesday, with results expected from ServiceNow, International Business Machines, Tesla, Texas Instruments, Alphabet and AT&T.
Investors will be looking for updates on artificial intelligence investment, cloud demand, corporate technology budgets and management expectations for the second half of the year.
