New orders for manufactured durable goods in the United States increased 0.2% to US$286.6 billion (A$441 billion) in October, the U.S. Census Bureau said.
The Census Bureau said in a release that the rise would have been 0.1% if transportation (which led the increases with 0.5%) was excluded and 0.4% if defence was excluded.
New orders for manufactured durable goods orders had dropped 0.4% in September.
The Bureau also said wholesale inventories rose by 0.2% to $905 billion in October after a 0.2% fall in the previous month.
In other U.S. economic news, personal income increased 0.6% to $147.4 billion in October, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) said in a news release.
The BEA said disposable personal income (personal income less personal current taxes) increased 0.7% to $144.1 billion and personal consumption expenditures increased 0.4% to $72.3 billion.
