United States stock futures traded slightly higher on Sunday night (Monday AEST), as investors returned to the market following a third consecutive weekly gain for the S&P 500, despite the index finishing lower on Friday.
By 10 am AEST (12 am GMT), Dow futures were up 0.03%, S&P 500 futures had gained 0.1%, and Nasdaq 100 futures had risen 0.3%.
Wall Street is coming off three consecutive weeks of gains for the S&P 500, which reached fresh all-time highs last week following a strong earnings season that has supported investor sentiment.
The stock market has continued to advance despite ongoing hostilities in the Middle East and concerns surrounding elevated valuations across the artificial intelligence sector.
Investors face a relatively quiet week for major market catalysts, although the Federal Reserve is scheduled to release minutes from its latest policy meeting on Wednesday (Thursday AEST).
A series of major retail earnings reports are also due, with Walmart, Home Depot and Lowe's scheduled to release their results throughout the week.
On the economic front, investors will monitor the August Empire State Manufacturing Index and the NAHB Housing Market Index for August for further clues on the health of the U.S. economy.
