United States equity futures were little changed on Monday night (Tuesday AEST) following a mixed regular session, with investors remaining cautious ahead of Nvidia's quarterly results and a key inflation report due later this week.
By 10:25 am AEST (12:25 am GMT), Dow futures were flat, S&P 500 futures were down 0.1% and Nasdaq 100 futures fell 0.2%.
In regular trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.3%, while the S&P 500 fell 0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.8%.
Investors continued to digest last week's market pullback while reducing risk ahead of Nvidia's earnings, which are due after the closing bell on Wednesday (Thursday AEST).
The chip giant's results are expected to provide further insight into the strength of demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure and the sustainability of elevated technology valuations.
Inflation will also remain in focus, with the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index for July due on Wednesday (Thursday AEST).
Another potential catalyst for stocks and the bond market comes on Friday, when Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is expected to speak at the central bank's annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Warsh's appearance comes after the US Treasury announced measures aimed at easing pressure on longer-dated Treasury yields.
On the earnings front, investors will be watching results from Bank of Montreal and Dick's Sporting Goods before Tuesday's opening bell. Intuit, Box and Zoom are scheduled to report after the market close.
Investors will also monitor consumer confidence data for signs of whether household resilience is beginning to weaken and what that could mean for economic growth and the Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook.
