United States stock futures traded higher on Wednesday night (Thursday AEST) as investors digested quarterly results from Nvidia and other major technology companies.
By 10:30 am AEST (12:30 am GMT) Dow futures were up 0.4%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.5% and Nasdaq 100 futures advanced 1%.
In extended trading, Nvidia shares jumped 4.6% after the artificial intelligence chipmaker beat expectations for both earnings and revenue in the second quarter, with sales more than doubling from a year earlier.
Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $2.22, ahead of the $2.09 expected, while revenue reached US$96.22 billion compared with the $92.27 billion consensus estimate.
CrowdStrike Holdings climbed 9.3% after the cybersecurity company beat expectations for both revenue and earnings. Adjusted EPS was $0.31, ahead of the $0.29 forecast, while revenue of $1.47 billion topped the $1.44 billion estimate.
Salesforce shares soared 12.5% in after-hours trading after reporting adjusted EPS of $5.90, well above the $3.27 expected. Revenue came in at $11.35 billion, slightly ahead of the $11.33 billion consensus.
Urban Outfitters fell 3% despite reporting second-quarter earnings and revenue broadly in line with expectations.
The three major U.S. indexes finished Wednesday's session little changed as investors assessed the latest corporate results and prepared for the Federal Reserve's annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, which begins Thursday.
Investors will also turn their attention to Best Buy's earnings before the opening bell on Thursday, followed by results from Workday, Affirm and Gap after the market closes.
