United States stock futures were largely flat on Thursday (Friday AEDT) after Wall Street closed higher with chipmakers continuing to rise in after-hours trading.
S&P 500 futures were up 0.1% to 6,985.25 points by 10:05 am AEDT (11:05 pm GMT). Dow Jones futures were flat at 49,659.00 and Nasdaq futures were unchanged at 25,711.75.
During the day, the S&P 500 climbed 0.3%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite increased 0.3%.
Chipmaker stocks gained during the day, with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) rising after reporting record profits and a strong increase in capital expenditure. Its shares continued to climb by 0.2% in after-hours trading.
Nvidia also rose 0.2% after-hours. The U.S. has officially approved sales of its H200 chips in China, although China is reportedly drafting rules to limit the number of foreign-made chips that companies can buy.
AMD climbed 0.6% after-hours while Broadcom shed 0.2%.
Blackrock dipped 0.1% lower in after-hours trading following a 5.9% surge during the day. It had reached a record $14 trillion in assets under management, it said when reporting earnings today.
Morgan Stanley lifted 0.1% after-hours, having beat profit estimates in today's earnings report. Goldman Sachs, which also released earnings today, was unchanged.
U.S. jobless claims unexpectedly fell by 9,000 to 198,000 last week, although this was impacted by seasonal fluctuations. Import prices rose 0.4% and export prices climbed 0.5% from September to November.
The U.S. will report industrial and manufacturing production data tomorrow.
