United States equities futures eased gently in after-hours trading on Tuesday (Wednesday AEST) following a stronger regular trading session in which two stock indices closed at record highs.
In futures trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was 0.08% lower at 44,522 points, the S&P 500 was also down by 0.08% at 6,463.5 and the Nasdaq had lost 0.02% to 23,932.50 points, by 11:30 am AEST (01:30 pm GMT).
Shares in Nvidia-backed cloud computing start-up CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV ) dived 10.42% to $133.25 in after-hours trading in a negative reaction to its earnings report, with its shares having risen 6.42% through the regular session to $148.75.
Earlier the S&P 500 and Nasdaq finished at new peaks after the Labor Department said the consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.2% in July, raising hopes of another interest rate cut.
The Dow rose 1.10%, the S&P 500 added 1.13% and the Nasdaq put on 1.39% during daytime trading.
