United States President Donald Trump’s military parade rolls through Washington as protests break out across the country on the President’s 79th birthday.
National protests are the biggest since Trump’s return to power.
The “No Kings Day” protests took place across major cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, alongside smaller towns against the Trump administration's policies.
Some protests saw demonstrators clash with counter-protesters and law enforcement.
This follows protests in Los Angeles against the Trump administration's immigration policies, where Trump deployed 4,000 National Guard Troops and Marines.
Despite this, Trump still hosted his long-awaited military parade that he had pushed for since his first term as president.
It was said to be the largest military parade in Washington DC since 1991 when former President George Bush held a parade at the conclusion of the Gulf War.
The parade reportedly cost up to US$45 million which caused criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike. Despite the hefty price tag, Trump said the parade was worth it.
“Every other country celebrates their victories, it’s about time America did too,” Trump said during remarks at the parade.
During the parade, Trump also issued warnings to “America’s enemies”.
"If you threaten the American people, our soldiers are coming for you," Trump said.
"Your defeat will be certain. Your demise will be final, and your downfall will be total and complete."
