Australian shares are poised to ease on opening after a weaker performance on Wall Street overnight.
The S&P/ASX 200 March share price index futures contract was trading 12 points (0.14%) lower at 8,150 points at 9:20 am AEDT (10:20 pm GMT).
U.S. stock indices closed lower in the first trading session of 2025 with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.4% and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite each edging down 0.2% in volatile trading.
The S&P/ASX 200 had closed 0.5% higher on Thursday, the first trading day of the new calendar year, as nine of the 11 market sectors finished with gains.
On the bond markets, yields were moving in all directions at 9:30 am AEDT with 10-year Australian Government rates sitting 0.07% higher at 4.435% and two-year rates down 0.15% at 3.894%.
