Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has reaffirmed his opposition to the Federal Coalition's nuclear power policy and called for an end to “childish” debates on the topic.
In a recent interview, Crisafulli spoke about Queensland being home to the the youngest fleet of coal-fired power stations in the country and this being the leading reason for his opposition.
Crisafulli also called no “childish” debates on energy during the federal election campaign and to discuss the topic “based on facts”.
Pushing back against his federal counterpart's nuclear policy, he cited that "in the last 12 months, Queensland's power prices went up by 19.9%" and he believed the existing coal infrastructure would benefit residents of the state more around this issue.
"I've got to be on the maroon team, and regardless whether it's a red team or a blue team in Canberra, I've got to be on team maroon and fight for our fair share," he said.
