Microsoft has confirmed it is bringing Hayete Gallot back on board as lead of security, less than a year after she joined Google Cloud.
Gallot will replace Charlie Bell in the role, who is moving to an engineering quality role instead.
Gallot left Microsoft after nearly 16 years at the company to join Google Cloud as president of customer experience in April of last year.
The company's chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella, confirmed the reshuffle in an employee note posted on an online blog.
Nadella said that Gallot had held “multiple critical roles" in building both Windows and Office during her tenure at Microsoft and confirmed the transition from Bell to her had been planned for “some time”.
“I am thrilled to share that I’m returning to Microsoft to lead the Security division, as Executive Vice President, Security,” Gallot said in a LinkedIn post
“Security has been a passion of mine throughout my career, and working closely with customers to transform their businesses has given me a front row seat to just how critical Security is.”
