MG is looking to further expand its electric vehicle offerings, following their MG 4 ranking as Australia’s top-selling electric vehicle last month. This came after significant discounts were made to the car, with up to $10,000 off the price.
MG’s electric range is set to grow even further in 2025 with a follow up to the ZS EV, a new mid-size electric SUV, and a pair of luxury-priced models from their sister brand IM Motors.
This will see MG with one of the widest electric-car suites in Australia, ahead of the four confirmed EVs BYD set for next year, along with Tesla’s two offerings, Hyundai’s five, Kia’s five, and BMW’s seven.
The first to launch will be the ZS EV successor, a small SUV sold in MG’s home market known as the ES5, due in the second quarter of the year.
It will be followed by a mid-size electric MG SUV, designed to rival the Tesla Model Y and Kia EV5, due at an unconfirmed point in 2025.
“If you love hybrid or plug-in hybrid, we will have five models. If you want EV, we will have seven models”, MG Motor Australia CEO Peter Ciao said. “MG is the only brand with everything – every technology we provide lots of options.”
