Melbourne Airport has been crowned the Best Airport in Australia and the Pacific for the third year in a row at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
This isn’t the first time Melbourne Airport has won. In fact, it has claimed the top spot five times in the last six years, including in 2020 and 2021.
The Skytrax awards are highly respected, and the winners are chosen based on feedback from travellers who participate in a survey covering over 565 airports.
The CEO of Melbourne Airport, Lorie Argus, believes the win is thanks to their hardworking staff, great traveller experiences, and constant improvements.
“We’re humbled that travellers have again voted us the best airport in our region, particularly at a time when we’re undertaking so much construction,” she said.
“The needs of travellers are always front of mind and our ‘Stepping Forward’ program empowers and encourages our staff to offer genuine assistance to passengers wherever they need it."
Melbourne Airport is known for its friendly staff and smooth operations, with 18,000 employees working day and night to keep everything running smoothly.
The airport has been upgrading its facilities, adding new shops, restaurants, security systems, and better baggage handling technology.
Big projects are in the works, including a new road network, a third runway, and expanding the international terminal. The airport appreciates travellers’ patience as these improvements take shape.
The World Airport Awards are based on independent surveys, judging airports on things like cleanliness, amenities, staff, and technology.
Meanwhile, Brisbane Airport took home a special award for having the Best Airport Staff in Australia and the Pacific in 2025.
This isn’t Brisbane Airport’s first win either; they earned this recognition back in 2021 as well.
Travellers have praised Brisbane Airport’s team for being friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the airport experience.
The CEO of Brisbane Airport, Gert-Jan de Graaf, said their goal is to keep travellers happy, and they’re thrilled to be acknowledged for their efforts.
"We are incredibly happy that travellers from around the world have recognised the hard-working and passionate Brisbane Airport team. Our philosophy is simple: 'Don't worry, be happy,' and that truly reflects our aim for all travellers," says de Graaf.
With $5 billion in planned upgrades and the 2032 Games on the horizon, Brisbane Airport is gearing up for a bright future, inviting more people to join their growing team.
“There are more than 20,000 people working at Brisbane Airport, and we expect that number to grow by 10,000 by the time the 2032 Games are here. For anyone keen to join Australia's best airport team, there are jobs available even now,” de Graaf said.
Brisbane Airport also announced that all energy used in its terminals now comes from 100% renewable sources, making it a leader in sustainability.
