United States stock futures ticked higher on Thursday evening (Friday AEDT), with the market heading into the final sessions of a holiday-shortened week.
By 10:20 am AEDT (11:20 pm GMT), futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq-100 were each up around 0.1%, reflecting subdued activity as Wall Street remained closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
When trading resumes on Friday, stocks are poised to close out a losing month. A broad pullback in major technology names has weighed heavily on November’s performance as concerns grow over whether artificial intelligence companies can maintain their rapid profit trajectory.
However, some investors see the recent weakness as an opportunity. The latest slide has opened the door for a potential year-end rally, with buyers returning to shares that have been heavily sold off despite solid fundamentals.
At Wednesday’s close, major benchmarks finished modestly higher. both the Dow and the S&P 500 added 0.7% apiece, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.8%.
U.S. markets will operate on reduced hours on Friday, with the session ending at 1 pm ET (6 pm GMT).
