Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platforms, has officially joined the ultra-exclusive $200 billion club, closing in on the world's top three richest individuals: Jeff Bezos, Bernard Arnault, and Elon Musk.
According to Bloomberg's Billionaire Index, Zuckerberg's net worth has skyrocketed by $73.4 billion in 2024, bringing his total fortune to $201 billion.
This massive gain makes Zuckerberg the fourth-richest person in the world, with only Musk ($272 billion), Bezos ($211 billion), and Arnault ($207 billion) holding larger fortunes. Meta's soaring stock price is largely responsible for Zuckerberg's wealth increase, as shares of the tech giant have surged nearly 64% this year.
Meta shares reached a record high of $568.31 on Wednesday, slightly dipping to $567.36 by Friday. Zuckerberg's wealth remains closely tied to Meta Platforms, which owns social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, as well as messaging app WhatsApp.
Speaking at the Meta Connect 2024 event, Zuckerberg highlighted the growth of Meta AI, revealing it is on track to become the world's most-used digital assistant.
“We’re almost at 500 million monthly active users, and we haven’t even launched in some of the bigger countries yet,” Zuckerberg noted, referring to upcoming launches in European Union markets.
Zuckerberg’s impressive financial year mirrors that of other tech moguls. Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, saw his net worth jump by $62.2 billion, while Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison’s fortune increased by $58.6 billion in 2024.
