JetBlue Airways will add new flights from Boston to Milan and Barcelona next year, as it expands its international network and aims to boost profits.
Flights to Barcelona will take off in April, with flights to Milan starting in May. These routes will operate daily throughout the summer.
“As we expand our New England footprint with new service from Boston to Barcelona and Milan, we’re bringing more travelers the elevated service that has redefined transatlantic air travel, including our award-winning Mint premium experience,” said JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty.
“Customers flying to Europe with JetBlue enjoy the kind of thoughtful design, privacy, and hospitality they simply won’t find with legacy carriers, and we’re proud to continue delivering incredible value and style on both sides of the Atlantic.”
Tickets for the new routes will be available from 20 November (21 November AEDT), JetBlue said. These flights will use JetBlue’s Airbus A321 aircraft.
JetBlue currently operates daily routes from Boston to Amsterdam, Paris, and London’s Heathrow airport, as well as daily summer flights to Dublin, Edinburgh, Madrid, and London’s Gatwick airport. Its first transatlantic flights took off in 2021.
The company told staff in June that it would retool its flights, including cutting underperforming routes, as part of its cost reduction plans. While it posted a loss of US$0.40 per share last quarter, it surpassed analyst estimates.
Other United States airlines have also been adding new higher-fare international flights in a bid to increase profits, as U.S. travel demand has been unsteady for much of 2025.
United Airlines will launch flights from Newark, New Jersey to European cities like Split, Croatia and Bari, Italy next year, and Delta Air Lines added routes from Boston to Madrid and Nice earlier in 2025.
JetBlue's (NASDAQ: JBLU) share price closed at $4.10, down from its previous close at $4.13. Its market capitalisation is $1.49 billion.
