While Labor has swept to a resounding victory and retained power in Canberra, how have independent candidates fared this election?
Australians are showing a steady shift towards third party voting, with the previous Federal election in 2022 showing the number of independent and minor party members of parliament elected was the highest ever seen in modern politics.
Nine seats already held by Independents from 2022 are all set to be retained, including Fowler and Wentworth in New South Wales, Curtin in Western Australia, Kooyong and Indi in Victoria and Clark in Tasmania.
Bob Katter and his Katter's Australian Party have also maintained their safe seat of Kennedy in Queensland.
The Trumpet of Patriots failed to secure a single seat, despite a mammoth advertising campaign involving an influx of texts, social media ads, billboards and $5 million on traditional television ads alone.
Pauline Hanson's One Nation also landed no seats, but is focused on Senate representation in the form of Hanson's daughter Lee ,who announced back in April she would run under her mother's party.
However, Senate outcomes will not be known for a while yet, with results sometimes taking up to weeks to emerge.
