Ford has partnered with Amazon to sell pre-owned vehicles on the online retail giant's platform.
The new program will allow customers to secure financing, start paperwork and schedule a pickup of the vehicles from participating Ford dealers, the companies said in their announcement.
The program will debut in Los Angeles, Seattle and Dallas before adding other locations, according to Ford.
Amazon’s first deal with an automaker came two years ago with South Korean automaker Hyundai.
However, the deals differ as Hyundai’s involves new vehicles rather than certified pre-owned.
Earlier this year, Amazon partnered with rental company Hertz to sell used vehicles through its site.
Ford said more than 160 of its 2,9000 U.S. retailers have expressed interest in the program and started the process with Amazon.
“The addition of Ford certified pre-owned vehicles to Amazon Autos represents an exciting expansion of our store, giving customers access to thousands of quality vehicles backed by Ford’s comprehensive inspection and warranty programs,” Fan Jin, global leader of Amazon Autos, said in a release.
Ford will offer a 14-day or 1,000-mile money-back guarantee, whichever comes first, on all vehicles sold through Amazon.
This comes as new car prices hit a record high in September, according to new data from Kelley Blue Book, with the average American buyer paying US$50,080 during that month.
Kelly Blue Book has since said average car prices have dropped back down below US$50,000.
