The 1962 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 prototype, once owned by Enzo Ferrari, is listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace for $1.354 million (US$865,000).
This ultra-rare prototype, chassis 4805, is the first of four prototype 330 GT 2+2s produced. It was reportedly Enzo Ferrari's personal car and is now being sold by Wild About Cars Garage, a car dealer based in Seattle, Washington.
The car was fully restored at a documented cost of $285,000. It features its original Light Ivory paintwork, classic knock-off wire wheels, black leather upholstery, and a three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel. Built in August 1962, this prototype served as the template for 1,099 production 330 GT 2+2s built between 1963 and 19671. It was used in press and promotional material before being shipped from Italy to the United States in 1964.
Enzo Ferrari, Ferrari's founder, loved four-seat road cars, despite his initial reluctance to produce them. As a replacement for the Ferrari 250 series, the 330 GT 2+2 was introduced. Pininfarina designed the exterior and a 4.0-litre Colombo V12 engine powered the car. Unlike previous Ferraris, this model offered a four-seat cabin in a two-door coupe body style.
Enzo Ferrari's connection to the car makes it a valuable piece of automotive history. Its high listing price on Facebook Marketplace reflects the car's rarity and significance.
