Cathay Air is set to launch its luxury Aria Suite business class flights in Australia in March 2025.
Through the introduction of Cathay Air’s latest Aria Suite on Boeing 777-300ER, the airline will be bringing its flagship business class experience to Australia for the first time.
Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport will join an exclusive list of destinations like Beijing, London Heathrow, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei and Tokyo Narita that have received the exclusive product.
The new Aria Suite debuted on 18 October 2024 and included the all-new business class and premium economy cabins.
“As part of this evolution, we are excited to introduce new seat products over the next three years, each designed to elevate the inflight experience for our customers,” Cathay Group chief customer and commercial officer, Lavinia Lau said in the announcement.
The business class seats include privacy doors, a 24-inch widescreen TV with Bluetooth audio streaming, and LED suite lighting. The premium economy seats include recliners and two dedicated premium economy washrooms on either side of the cabin.
The first Aria Suite flight from Hong Kong to Sydney will be on 17 March. It will depart at from Hong Kong at 11:55 pm and arrive in Sydney at 12 noon the following day, there will also be a return flight the following day departing from Sydney at 3:15 pm and arriving at 9:30 local time in Hong Kong.
From 30 March they will shift service, offering a different schedule.
In introducing its new flight path, Cathay will be competing in one of the world’s busiest international flight paths between Hong Kong and Syndey while strengthening the airline's position as a global hub.
The introduction of flights to Sydney comes days after Cathay Air reported a 1% increase in full-year profit, reaching HK$9.89 billion compared to the previous year's HK$9.79 billion.
