Business travel is set to increase significantly in 2025, according to a report by Global Hotel Alliance (GHA).
Overnight business trips are projected to rise by 13% over 2023, based on a survey of GHA’s GHA Discovery loyalty program members. 69% of members expect to travel for business in 2025.
“As business travel continues its long recovery and longer leisure stays take centre stage, we’re seeing a clear shift towards blending work and relaxation,” said Global Hotel Alliance’s Executive Vice President of Strategy Kristi Gole.
Chinese travellers are expected to travel for business the most, averaging seven business trips per year. Australians are largely targeting domestic business trips, as well as business travel to Oceania.
93% of GHA Discovery members said they plan to travel internationally for leisure next year. Japan and Thailand remained the top holiday destinations for a second consecutive year, with China rising to third place.
“2025 promises to be a year of exploration, with destinations like Japan, Thailand, UAE and Italy continuing to captivate our members, alongside new favourites like New Zealand, and Vietnam,” she said.
According to GHA’s findings, loyalty program resources and online travel agents are the most popular methods for GHA Discovery members to plan their travel.
Global Hotel Alliance gave out its travel awards, known as the ULTRAs, earlier this month. Italy’s Portrait Milano was named the hotel of the year, while Capella Sydney was crowned the best hotel in the Asia-Pacific.
Emirates and Regent Seven Seas Cruises were named the world’s best airline and luxury cruise line, respectively.
