Australian long distance train service Journey Beyond is set to release what it calls an "evolution in train travel", with two new luxury suites the ‘Australis’ and ‘Aurora’ aboard its passenger cars.
First departures are scheduled to join Australia’s iconic trains The Ghan, Indian Pacific and the Great Southern from April 2026.
These exquisite accommodations are touted to offer an unparalleled experience where the beauty of the Australian landscape unfolds before you.
“A new level of luxury awaits guests in 2026 and we are excited to launch the new suites that set the highest standard of luxury train travel in Australia and internationally,” Journey Beyond CEO Chris Tallent said.
“A moving luxury like no other, the suites are unrivalled and further elevates Journey Beyond’s portfolio of luxury accommodation and experiences in Australia.
“The commitment to our iconic trains' evolution is exemplified by the introduction of our luxury suites.
“As demand for international travel continues to surge, we recognise the necessity to enhance the travel experience, ensuring it meets and surpasses global standards.
Size upgrades
With their own separate queen size bedrooms, General Manager of Rail David Donald says “the Aurora Suite is double the size of our Platinum cabins, while the Australis Suite is the largest at three times the space”.

“They are your luxurious sanctuary to unwind after a day of exploring Outback Australia, a place to rest your feet and cheers with a glass of chilled champagne.”
The suite packages both come with a dedicated butler, an exclusive unpacking service, a pillow menu, a private bar curated according to your preferences, in-room dining and a private chauffeur.
Prices start from $11,890 pp for the Australis suite and $7,990 pp for the Aurora suite for a three-day journey on The Ghan.
