Australian share prices are expected to rise when the sharemarket opens on Monday.
Futures trading was pointing to a stronger start with the S&P/ASX 200 index June share price index futures contract trading 18 points (0.23%) higher at 7,659 at 9:50 am AEST (11:50 pm GMT Sunday).
United States stocks closed higher on Friday (Saturday AEST) with the Dow Jones Industrial Average gaining 1.6%, the S&P 500 adding 1.8% and the Nasdaq Composite rising 2.1%.
The ASX 200 index had closed 0.8% lower at 7,646.5 points on Friday.
The backdrop to this is an increase in hopes that a way would be found to avoid a global trade war as U.S. trade partners seek tariff concessions from President Donald Trump.
Among stocks to watch, CommSec wrote that Freelancer and Viva Energy Group would deliver quarterly trading updates today.
On fixed interest markets, yields on Australian Treasury bonds fell with the 10-year rate down 0.97% to 4.396% and the two-year rate down 1.59% to 3.339%.
