Australian shares rallied on Tuesday, with the benchmark index closing at its highest level since 3 March as banking and technology stocks led broad-based gains ahead of the earnings season.
The S&P/ASX 200 Index rose 126.5 points, or 1.4%, to 9,145.8, with 10 of the 11 sectors finishing in positive territory.
The Information Technology sector was the strongest performer. WiseTech Global climbed 3.1%, TechnologyOne gained 3.3%, Xero advanced 3.5%, NextDC added 4.2%, while Life360 surged 11.4%.
Financial stocks also posted solid gains, with Commonwealth Bank rising 1.6%, NAB jumping 3.0%, Westpac adding 1.7% and ANZ climbing 2.4%.
Among individual movers, DroneShield led the benchmark higher, surging 14.6% after reports that investment bank JPMorgan had increased its stake in the company.
Charter Hall Social Infrastructure REIT jumped 8.6% after reporting statutory net profit after tax of A$90.5 million for the year ended 30 June, representing a 27.5% increase from a year earlier.
On the bond markets, the 10-year yield rose 0.3% to 4.972%, while the two-year yield was unchanged at 4.554%.
